Rishi Jay Gupta, DDS, MD, MBA is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) with focus in Sleep Apnea Surgery. Dr. Gupta is currently a Staff Surgeon at San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SFVA) and an Assistant Professor at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He also holds clinical and academic appointments in the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Veterans Affairs Northern California Health Care System and at University of California, Davis.
Dr. Gupta earned his bachelors degree from University of California, Berkeley and completed the joint DDS and MBA program from UCSF and University of San Francisco (USF) respectively. During his dental school tenure at UCSF, Dr. Gupta helped create and design the joint DDS and MBA program and was a member of the first graduating class. He was then accepted to the six year OMFS program at UCSF and concurrently received his MD from University of California, Davis. Dr. Gupta is fellowship trained in Sleep Apnea Surgery from California Sleep Institute and Stanford University.
In addition to Sleep Apnea Surgery, his other areas of interest include Temporomandibular Joint Surgery and Orthognathic surgery. Dr. Gupta’s practice is dedicated to patient care, administrative efforts, student and resident education, research related to Sleep Apnea Surgery and Temporomandibular Joint Surgery, and entrepreneurial endeavors. He is a member of several professional societies including the San Francisco Dental Society, California Dental Association, American Dental Association, California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and American College of Surgeons. He is a reviewer of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, lectures at academic and community conferences, and has authored several publications and book chapters.
