Dr. Glazer brings tremendous experience in the field of telemedicine. While completing his training at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Glazer pioneered the first IRB approved study which elucidated the efficacy of providing speech therapy via a telemedicine platform to Cleft Palate (CP) patients in Nicaragua that he and his colleagues repaired during humanitarian mission trips to the country. Through the use of an English speaking speech language pathologist (SLP), laptop, webcam, and translator 3000 miles away, Dr. Glazer’s study showed, for the first time, that telemedicine offers the potential to extend SLP services following CP repair to rural, remote, and underserved populations in culturally and linguistically diverse locales. The results and success of this seminal study were published in 2011 in The Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, a peer reviewed journal, titled Multidisciplinary Care of International Cleft Palate Patients Using Telemedicine. This project has not only continued in Nicaragua, but has also expanded to include other countries.
Dr. Glazer attended Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
