With 9 years dedicated to medicine, Dr. Balasubramanian brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and in particular, to his areas of expertise, Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. When asked why he decided to pursue a career in medicine, Dr. Balasubramanian said:
“I want to take care of people, to do some service for the community. I have seen people who get old, sometimes they’re not able to get healthcare, and sometimes their children don’t take care of them, so I want to find out how we can help. I became interested in geriatric medicine because I want to make sure that as our people get older they are being taken care of.”
Upon completing his residency training in 2003, Dr. Balasubramanian relocated to Houston, Texas, where he is now widely renowned for his use of advanced clinical practice skills in the care of complex geriatric patients in his primary practice with his company, Medical Home Team, a healthcare management company that aligns office-based physicians with specially trained Medical Home Practitioners to serve geriatric patients from the comfort of their own homes. He also visits local nursing homes and assisted living facilities to attend to the local aging population.
As a leader in his industry, Dr. Balasubramanian is able to deeply empathize with a growing population that requires attention from home. Recognizing the widespread need to keep the aging healthy and safe at home, Dr. Balasubramanian discusses the challenges and rewards of attending to clients in their home. He noted:
“In terms of what we’re trying to focus on, it’s delivering not only physician visits and nurse practitioner visits at home, but also doing blood work, doing imaging, ordering tests and delivering prescriptions. Everything at home. While patients are taken care of at home, the family members can actually go to work instead of having to take them to different doctor offices, all while they get to have peace of mind.”
Dr. Balasubramanian is a member of the Harris County Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
